ICE DAMS

Ice dams have been known to cause heavy damage to residential and commercial buildings.  To avoid an ice dam, you should remove snow from the 3' edge of the roofline, to allow the water from melting snow to run directly off the roof.

Once ice dams have established, they thicken over the freeze/thaw periods, and back the water up the roof risking leaks into the dwelling.

Steam is the proven best method to remove an ice dam.

GUTTERS & DOWNSPOUTS

Clearing eaves troughs and downspouts is very easy with the use of steam, and removes the risk of scratching finishes or causing damage.

Gutters and downspouts should only be done during the spring thaw.

ROOF AND SEWER VENTS

If roof vents become plugged, this causes proper attic airflow to stop, and the system does not work correctly.

Sewer venting is also very important, as it removes the sewer gas from the plumbing system, and out of the building envelope.

If you are experiencing sewer gas entering the building, you will need to contact a licensed plumbing company to diagnose, as this is an emergency.

FURNACE INTAKE/EXHAUST

High efficient furnaces have venting that run outside the home, and over long periods of extreme cold they can form ice from condensation.  If the furnace does not get the required amount of (intake) air, it will disable proper operation.  Also, the exhaust needs to stay clear of ice buildup, as it can divert exhaust gases incorrectly, or risk outflow to stop completely.

CULVERTS

During winter and spring thaw, road culverts can become completely choked with ice, which makes it impossible for the culvert to flow water.  If a frozen road culvert is not cleared before spring runoff, this may cause serious flooding, and risk roads being washed out, unnecessarily.

LIVESTOCK WATER SYSTEMS

Steam is a good choice to thaw livestock watering systems.

The steam lines can be used underwater to free the frozen float systems and waterlines that keep the water levels high.

GRAFFITI

Dry steam - combined with a biodegradable detergent, removes graffiti efficiently, without damaging the material or the environment.

This process also minimizes the amount of water left onsite.
